7 Home and Away questions we have after this week's Australian episodes

From Digital Spy

Home and Away spoilers follow from this week's Australian-pace episodes, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away aired another four new episodes in Australia this week, as Jasmine Delaney secretly plotted her next move, and Gemma Parata was parted from the rest of her family.

Here are seven big questions we've been left with after the latest episodes.

1. Is Jasmine planning a custody battle?

Jasmine's skewed sense of reality is causing bigger problems each week, and it only seems like a matter of time before it all ends in further heartbreak for her.

Still grieving over Robbo's death and the setback she suffered with her false pregnancy, Jasmine is obsessing over her stepdaughter Grace.

This week, Jas went public with her concerns for the baby's wellbeing after Grace was briefly kidnapped while in Tori's care. Justin Morgan, Willow Harris, Mackenzie Booth and Colby Thorne all saw that Jasmine clearly wasn't herself.

Willow also became aware of Jasmine's worrying forum posts and warned her that she was in danger of losing access to Grace altogether if she carried on causing problems for Tori.

Jasmine seemed to agree, but we then saw her making a secret record of bogus complaints and concerns about Tori. Could she launch a desperate bid for custody?

2. Will Gemma Parata ever return?

Home and Away fans were stunned this week as Gemma's trip to New Zealand – only billed on screen as a short visit to scatter her late husband's ashes – was followed up by an Instagram post from Bree Peters announcing her departure from the cast.

Bree's castmates and show producers have all been paying tribute to her work on the show, while fans have expressed their disappointment that Gemma only appeared for a six-month run.

While we don't know the reasons that Bree didn't stick around for longer, we're holding out hope that we'll see her back in Summer Bay further on down the line.

The Parata family's matriarch has been a hit with viewers in recent months and was also developing some nice friendships in the Bay before her departure. A case of 'gone too soon', in our book.

3. Has Marilyn fallen out of love with John?

John and Marilyn's home life went from bad to worse over the course of the week, as they began to find each other's company unbearable. John managed to find fault with everything Marilyn said to him, unable to deal with her constant fussing.

Marilyn was stung by John's repeated harsh words and eventually reached breaking point by storming out of the house, leaving her husband alone when he might have needed help.

Marilyn has previously agreed to be John's carer while he recovers from his stroke, even though their marriage was on the rocks when he first suffered his health scare.

Feeling desperate, Marilyn has now confided in Alf that she can't take much more. Is she staying with John out of duty rather than love?

4. Will Maggie and Ben leave Summer Bay?

We're still reeling from Gemma's exit, but it's looking increasingly likely that Maggie and Ben will be joining her by leaving the show. This week, the Astoni couple decided to start a new life in Italy, even though their daughters Ziggy and Coco didn't want to go with them.

By the end of the week, Maggie and Ben had started to pack up their belongings and offered Ziggy the opportunity to move in with Dean after they'd left. Is it the end of an era for the Bay?

5. Will the Parata family struggle without Gemma?

Following Gemma's departure, there were clear signs that her boys were struggling with her absence. Tane was appalled to stumble across an empty fridge and also struggled to communicate with Nikau, who was devastated to miss the scattering of his dad's ashes in New Zealand.

Things got worse when Tane received a text which informed him that the family's latest rent payment was $500 short. With Gemma's wage gone, her loved ones could struggle in her absence unless something changes soon.

6. Will Bella and Nikau reunite?

Bella put Nikau in the friend zone when she returned to Summer Bay after her time in therapy, but she's certainly taking a great interest in his life at the moment.

The teen was appalled when she discovered that her older brother Colby had blocked the Parata men from leaving the country due to the ongoing Diner investigation, stopping them from witnessing the scattering of Mikaere's ashes.

As Nikau struggled with the sad situation and locked himself in his bedroom, Bella loyally stayed outside until he was ready to talk. Her efforts worked when she convinced Nikau to open up – but will they just stay friends, or is a deeper connection developing?

7. Can Ryder move on without Evan?

It was another difficult week for Ryder, who was left without his father once again following Evan's decision to leave. Ryder feared the worst when he didn't hear from terminally-ill Evan, who was looking into palliative care options with support from Roo.

Fortunately, Evan later shared a phone call with Ryder, who was relieved to hear that he hadn't deteriorated further. Constantly on edge as he waits for further updates, will Ryder be able to focus on his life and job in Summer Bay in the meantime?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
