Next week's Holby City episode (September 17) will see Ric's problems reach an all-time high (or should that be low?), while his granddaughter Darla goes into labour.
Cameron is also forced to take a big stand, while Essie's lies begin to unravel. Here's a roundup of everything in store for you...
1. Ric's problems come to a head
It's make-or-break for Ric Griffin next week after he makes one his of his biggest errors yet. With Zav – and later Cameron – keeping a watchful eye on him, Ric's mistakes start to become something the duo fear they can no longer ignore.
Backed into a corner and worried something is something is seriously with him, Ric encourages Cameron to take on his workload, while retreating into his office.
But sadly, Ric's disappearing act means he is absent with his granddaughter Darla needs him the most.
2. Darla gives birth
14-year old Darla's pregnancy certainly hasn't been without its complications and she's in for an equally troubling time when she goes into labour next week.
As Darla also suffers the repercussions of Ric's strange behaviour, she finds some much-needed support from Cameron, who is starting to realise that something is seriously wrong with her grandfather.
With Cameron on a mission to get to the bottom of what's going on with Ric, he seeks Darla out and is worried to hear that it's not just work tasks that the surgeon is struggling with.
When Cameron needs to make a quick dash back to his flat, Darla insists on coming with him – but both are left horrified when her waters break in the process.
3. Cameron steps up…
Panic-stricken after Darla goes into early labour, Cameron desperately tries to get hold of Ric – but to no avail.
When it becomes clear that they aren't going make it back to hospital in time, Cameron takes control of the situation and attempts to deliver the baby alone.
After realising that the baby is breach, Cameron is relieved when Ric arrives on the scene –confident that they can tackle the tricky situation together.
Unfortunately, Cameron's relief turns to horror when Ric suffers a terrifying blackout and is unable to help whatsoever.
4. And later confronts Ric
Cameron is on cloud nine after safely delivering Darla's baby girl, but his happiness is short-lived as a challenging task awaits.
Unable to forget what happened during Darla's labour, an unimpressed Cameron confronts Ric about his recent behaviour and even offers up a diagnosis.
Unable to face what's staring him in the face, Ric shocks Cameron with his extremely angry reaction and hits him where it hurts with some personal comments. As Cameron reels from the unexpected altercation, will anyone be able to get through to Ric?
5. Essie's lies unravel
Essie's been living a lie over the last few weeks, but her tangled web will start to unravel when baby Isla falls ill.
When she learns that Isla requires emergency surgery, Essie knows that her cover story about being the tot's adoptive mother is in danger of being exposed.
As Sacha and the rest of the team implore Essie to ring the adoption agency and get hold of Isla's medical notes, it looks like the game really could be up for the good-natured nurse...
6. Sacha learns the truth
With Isla's condition deteriorating, a devastated Essie ends up revealing everything to Sacha – explaining that she isn't the youngster's mother and has been looking after her for Frankie.
Although Sacha tries to be supportive, he does question Frankie's true intentions in regards to abandoning Isla and encourages Essie to do the right thing. Will Essie be forced to give Isla up?
7. Chloe is spooked
As Chloe makes (another!) attempt to move on from Evan, she throws herself back into work – surprising her loved ones with her refreshed attitude.
In fact, Chloe is feeling so positive that she even arranges to head out of town on a much-needed mini-break, determined to put the murky few weeks behind her once and for all.
Sadly, as the day goes on, Chloe's facade starts to slip as she becomes increasingly convinced that Evan is following her.
Chloe is so determined that someone is watching her that she even instructs the security team to go through the camera. But are her suspicions correct or is paranoia getting the better of her?
Holby City airs these scenes on Tuesday, September 17 at 8pm on BBC One.
