Every year Coronation Street airs an action-packed week of episodes to run alongside the Britain's Got Talent live finals, and 2019 is no exception. While soap fans are used to sudden scheduling changes thanks to football or politics, this is one alteration to the norm that we don't mind – mainly because it means we know we're in for a treat.

These special episodes are usually reserved for some of the biggest plots of the year, with the main storylines that we have been investing in for months finally coming to a conclusion.

Last year, Coronation Street's 9pm week saw Weatherfield villain Pat Phelan's reign of terror come to a dramatic climax, and this year's 9pm week promises to be just as gripping – even without a serial killer on the loose.

We've already revealed plenty of gossip on what viewers can expect from Coronation Street's huge week of episodes, but for those of you who like all of their spoilers in one place, look no further.

1. Three HUGE storylines come to a head

Coronation Street's 9pm week always promises to deliver explosive episodes – but this year it's not just one huge storyline coming to a climax, but three.

We will finally find out who was the mystery culprit behind the roof sabotage at Underworld, Rick Neelan will plan his terrifying final revenge against Gary, while Carla's breakdown storyline will reach a peak.

Corrie airs at 9pm for five nights throughout the week, sandwiched in between the Britain's Got Talent live performance and results shows.

2. Rana's killer is finally revealed

It's the biggest whodunit of the year so far, and after months of waiting to see who sabotaged the Underworld factory roof, the truth is about to be revealed. Coronation Street has narrowed the culprit down to a final three, but was it Nick, Gary or Robert who inadvertently caused Rana's death?

All three have got a motive. With cash-strapped Gary needing more work, could he have been the one to tamper with the roof so that Carla booked him to fix it again? Or was the roof collapse all part of an insurance job by Nick? Robert was also holding a grudge against Carla at the time of the accident, so was he prepared to use drastic measures to cause problems for her?

Fear not, we don't have to wait long to find out which of the three suspects has blood on their hands, as the truth is confirmed to viewers on Wednesday, May 29.

3. Carla's standalone episode will be aired

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod revealed last year that Carla's mental health storyline would come to a head in a special standalone episode. The wait is finally over, because it is due to be aired next week.

After not taking her medication, Carla starts suffering from severe psychosis and gets confused when she sees a woman in a red coat. Carla believes she is Hayley Cropper, who died back in 2014.

But Hayley isn't the only ghost from Carla's past who will visit her in this heartbreaking episode. Carla will also start to hallucinate and become convinced she is talking to Rana Habeeb, as well as her half-brother Aidan Connor, who took his own life last year.

Coronation Street has revealed that elements of the special episode will be shown from Carla's point of view, making it one that is definitely not to be missed.

4. Gary faces death

Oh, Gary! Where do we start with the mess that he has got himself into? Coronation Street fans will know all too well how far the desperate builder has sunk into the dark and gloomy world of loan shark Rick Neelan. The 9pm week will see that storyline come to a gripping end, when the villain promises to kill Gary in cold blood.

When Sarah, Leanne and Toyah break into Rick's office, hoping to get some answers about Nick's dodgy dealings, little do they know that they've potentially signed Gary's death warrant.

Despite the fact Gary denies sending Sarah to do his dirty work, Rick doesn't believe a word he says and vows to finish him off for good. As things get violent, even Rick's sidekick Sharon can't stand the heat and leaves.

With next week's episodes airing at the slightly later time of 9pm, it doesn't look like Rick is going to hold back as he prepares to kill Gary. But as Rick is called away to deal with a client, Gary has the chance to make a hasty call to Sarah, warning her that she's in danger.

As Rick returns and unties Gary, things don't look good for the doomed builder. Is there about to be another murder on the cobbles? Well, if you really want to know, these recent spoiler pictures give the answer either way…

5. Audrey discovers the truth

The truth about Audrey's missing money has been a ticking timebomb waiting to go off, and finally next week the hairdresser finds out that she has been swindled by her own grandsons as David confesses everything.

The truth comes out while the Platts are on a family break, but their holiday spirit is soon ruined when barber shop trainee Natalie unexpectedly arrives to deliver some bad news to David and Nick.

But that's not all. David finds his engagement called off when Shona sees him in close conversation with Natalie after she has gatecrashed their holiday. Gail also works out that Natalie is the woman in the CCTV footage from when Audrey's money was stolen – all by identifying her tattoo.

Realising their secret is on the brink of being exposed, David decides to confess all to Audrey, telling her that Nick stole her cash and that he helped him spend it.

With the police now involved, things are set to get even messier when Nick offers David a dodgy deal – he will sign over his half of the barbers if David takes the rap for the missing money.

6. Lorraine Kelly makes a cameo

Monday, May 27 will see TV presenter Lorraine Kelly making a cameo in Coronation Street – and it turns out Gail is a huge fan. Who knew?

Gail is thrilled when she discovers that Lorraine is staying at the same holiday park as her, and it's not long before she has managed to convince Sarah and Bethany to follow the TV star in a pedalo.

Expect some hilarious moments as Gail's desperation to meet Lorraine gives the week of action-packed episodes some light relief.

7. Sally's involved in comedy hi-jinks too

Aside from Lorraine Kelly's cameo, Corrie's 9pm week is full of fairly dark drama. But fear not, because Sally will be bringing some comedy to the cobbles. Good old Sal.

After clubbing together with Jenny, Sinead and Yasmeen for a race horse, Sally's excited when it arrives – only to find the beautiful horse they'd paid for has been replaced by an old nag.

Realising that they have been swindled, Sally's week goes from bad to worse when she holds a dinner party and her guests quickly realise she has been keeping the horse in her garden.

But this is Coronation Street, and the chances of stopping a horse escaping from a back garden are slim to none. How much damage can one animal make in Weatherfield? We're about to find out.

Coronation Street airs at 9pm all next week on ITV.
