When is a heel not just a heel? When it’s a sculpture, of course. Which is just what’s turning heads on the ground as traditional block, kitten and stiletto heels have morphed into mini works of art. The more abstract the better, as minimalist uppers team up with maximalist shoes.

2 The sleeveless trench

On the runway the trench has undergone all sorts of twists and turns for SS18. On the high street our favourite trans-seasonal multitasker is a sleeveless iteration. Style now with a chunky turtleneck, and later with a camisole top. Or better yet, try it belted tight as a dress for when summer gets into full swing.

3 The bum bag

Lighten your load and go totally hands-free with the season’s cult-issue belt bag — whether slung nonchalantly over one shoulder (Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid-style) or threaded through your belt buckles (look to Rihanna and Kim K), the bum bag is hot property.

4 The messenger T-shirt

Picking up where the logo-T left off, the high street has put a literary stamp on its spring T-shirt arsenal. Cue cute French turns of phrase or poetic one-liners that add a little je ne sais quoi.

Minus temps aside, even during the AW18 show season, off-white jeans were a winter street-style wonder. As spring ramps up, go a little more cropped and tapered and pair with a tonal T-shirt.

The midi’s AW supremacy has been outmanoeuvred by spring’s return of the pencil. Upping the skirt’s sensuality index are these button-up utility-inspired versions that look fresh styled with a trench or T-shirt.
