When you're thrown into a situation with new people, you're bound to spark up an attraction with someone.

Let's face it, there have been some seriously weird couples, who wouldn't look at each other twice in the outside world, but when forced to spend time together, ended up striking up a romance. Sadly, the green shoots of love couldn't grow after being exposed to the harsh light of real life (as opposed to reality life.)

Just check this lot out...

1. Nicki Grahame and Pete Bennett, Big Brother

These two got together on Big Brother, and delivered one of the most unexpected reality TV romances ever.

They found love back 2006 and (once we got used to the idea) seemed like the perfect couple, despite leading completely different lives. However, while the public fell in love with them, Pete sadly dumped her after winning the show, claiming Nicki was too high maintenance.

You would have thought he knew that already.

They eventually patched things up in the end and became friends – well, sort of. In fact, over the past 11 years they've even met up a couple of times.

2. Chantelle Houghton and Samuel Preston, Celebrity Big Brother

Chantelle went into Celebrity Big Brother a nobody and came out as a celebrity. It was a genius move by producers and led to one of the most memorable series ever. During her time in the house, she struck up a romance with Preston and the pair fell so in love that they ended up getting married in 2006.

They moved in together in Brighton, but the magic didn't last and their marriage ended after less than a year outside of the house. Chantelle later told Piers Morgan that just a month into their marriage, Preston had admitted that he never wanted to tie the knot.

Not exactly the best way to get a marriage going, is it?

3. Gemma Collins and Charlie King, TOWIE

These two could not have been anymore mismatched if they tried. No, seriously – considering Charlie later ended up realising he was gay.

Gemma upset the hunk when she famously compared he and his good pal Bobby Noris to Elton John and David Furnish while they were together, and the pair eventually split when Gemma was caught out texting Ricky Rayment.

Talking about his experience on TOWIE, Charlie told The Mirror at the time: "It was difficult at times on the TOWIE journey. I almost thought the guys thought I was hiding something or I was living a double life or I was up to stuff with Bobby and it was never the case."

Charlie and The GC remained friends down the line, and both have since returned to the show that made them household names.

4. Ollie Locke and all of his relationships, Made In Chelsea

It's tough enough coming out as it is, let alone realising who you are on national television.

Ollie dated a string of women on Made in Chelsea, including Chloe Green and Gabriella Ellis, but he later came to the realisation that things weren't working out because he was gay.

He told The Sun last year: "I lived with a woman last year when I was off camera, we had two dogs together. And then we broke up and in December I thought, 'That's it now, I think I am now gay.'"

5. Chloe-Jasmine Whichello and Stevi Ritchie, The X Factor

The X Factor isn't known for its couples, but when they happen, they're memorable, to say the least.

First we had Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards, and then we had Chloe and Stevi. Seemingly nothing alike, the completely bonkers pair started up a romance during the live rounds.

The couple moved quickly, and got engaged just months after The X Factor came to an end. Their whirlwind romance wasn't easy though, and during their time together they broke up twice – once because Chloe reportedly failed to show up for Stevi's birthday.

The pair blamed the papers for ruining their relationship, and they broke up earlier this year. But we wouldn't put it past them to get back together and give things another go.

6. Kerry Katona and Lucien Laviscount, Celebrity Big Brother

Kerry and Lucien met while in the Celebrity Big Brother house, and the former Atomic Kitten star became so obsessed that she ended up claiming she was "in love". The pair flirted intensely, but it seemed to be more serious on Kerry's side.

However, weeks after leaving the house, Lucien put a dampener on romance rumours, telling reports that Kerry was "just a friend".

According to Kerry, it was the 12-year age difference that put a stop to things, rather than a lack of spark on either side.

7. Stacey Solomon and Steve-O, The Jump

Stacey and Steve-O managed to avoid major injuries while on Channel 4's infamous reality series The Jump, and in the process found love with each other.

The singer fell head over heels for the MTV prankster, and things looked set to go the distance. However, after leaving the confines of the show, maintaining a long-distance relationship proved too hard for the couple.

Speaking out their split in the following weeks, Stacey told Digital Spy: "I really don't know – you'll have to ring him and ask him. He probably has a better insight than me – I don't have any answer, that's the genuine truth.

"I was super happy before [him] so I've got to stick with it this time. I've really got to not let my guard down! I'm super happy. I love being independent, I love being with just me and the boys and my family and friends, and I'm good with that. That's the best."
