Now that fashion month has come to a close we can start compiling our Spring/Summer 2019 wish list.

While some may have a soft spot for designer shoes or dreamy dresses, this season the majority of us have got our eye on the numerous 'new in' luxe handbags.

Over the years, must-have arm candy has transitioned from classic designer styles, such as Chanel 2.55 or Hermès Birkin, to a whole range of silhouettes, with many finding fame thanks to Instagram.

From the 'gram-approved Staud and Rejina Pyo, to more traditional designers such as Burberry and Chanel, here are seven bags you're about to see everywhere (and that you may want to start saving for).

1. Jacquemus

The designer that started the massive sun hat trend for summer 2018 is back with a new XL (and extra trendy) accessory for Spring/Summer 2019.

Just like the cult Instagram hat, we are sure the French label's latest oversized item will catch on quick.

Made in two hues, a neutral straw shade and a rustic red, each bag comes with copious amounts of fringing and is at least three times larger than your average tote bag, making it rather practical for carrying all your beach essentials.

Good luck fitting it in your suitcase though.

2. Staud

Staud has a way of making the most usual bag shapes an unequivocal must-have on the fashion scene. In recent years we have seen both mesh covered bucket bags and PVC totes with square handles become the hottest bag silhouettes.

So naturally, the fashion set were eager to see what the LA-based brand had in store next - and it did not disappoint.

Staud's Spring/Summer 2019 collection put a spotlight on a quirky vase design that came in numerous artsy colours, sure to be a hit with those wanting to stand out from the crowd next season.

3. Rejina Pyo

Rejina Pyo, much like Staud, has made waves on Instagram.

But it was at London Fashion Week that Pyo's contemporary rectangular 'Olivia Bags' really turned heads.

The croc-effect bags come in numerous colours - from classic white, black and brown to pastel hues - and have already amassed a cult following, with influencers snapping up the £530 bag straight from the catwalk.

4. Burberry

For Spring/Summer 2019, Burberry underwent a reinvention by new creative director Riccardo Tisci, and in and amongst the new bag styles was one that caught our eye in particular...

Taking the bum bag to new levels, Tisci managed to put a chic twist on the streetwear item, adding Burberry's new logo as the fastening. It's sure to be a hot item next season.

5. Balmain

It's not gone unnoticed that high fashion designers have favoured transparent accessories in recent years, from Yeezy thigh-high boots to Chanel bag raincoats.

And now Balmain has joined the bandwagon, creating a structural transparent bag holder designed to carry... your smaller designer bag.

A carrier bag to carry a bag? Whatever next?

6. Chloé

After years of gold circle designs, Chloé's Natacha Ramsay-Levi has reworked the French fashion house's signature handbag style for Spring/Summer 2019.

Opting for classic silhouettes, each adorned with a new 'C' logo, this design will appeal to both old and new fans of the brand. Plus, it's in keeping with the current trend for designer monogrammed bags that keeps bombarding our feeds.

7. Chanel

Chanel's Spring/Summer 2019 collection was not only a spectacle to behold - the Grand Palais was turned into a beach, complete with lapping waves - but, the collection itself instantly garnered lots of fans due to its retro pieces.

As well as chain belts and pastel ice cream hued garments, a diverse range of handbags hit the catwalks. One particularly noteworthy style was an adorable raffia lunchbox-style bag, perfect for a stylish summer picnic.
