7 things we learned from the new Spider-Man trailer

The second Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer is here, and with it comes a lot of new information about Tom Holland's first solo outing in the red-and-blue jammies.

So sit back for more Iron Man, spider-themed gadgets and Avengers cameos.

1. Iron Man helps out

We already knew that Robert Downey Jr would be showing up in the film, but it seems that Stark will be doing more than giving not-entirely-helpful pep talks to his young protégé. When the Staten Island Ferry is split down the middle, Iron Man flies into action.

2. Captain America cameo

Chris Evans's Steve Rogers may be on the run, but he's still helping keep school kids fit (while rocking his Avengers-era costume). What a hero.

3. Spider-Man's suit gets a major downgrade

"If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it," says Stark as he demands his fancy costume back.

Presumably that is why Parker is seen later in the trailer rocking his old pyjamas-and-a-hoodie look – which we're betting doesn't came with any fancy extras beyond some convenient pockets around the midriff.

4. Vulture gives Spidey the hard sell

Interspersed throughout the trailer are shots of Michael Keaton's Vulture out of his suit, speechifying in some sort of warehouse or workshop. He talks about "the rich and the powerful" walking all over the little man (presumably forgetting that his plan involves blowing up innocent people). And he'll "do anything to protect [his] family", which we guess refers to his energy-weapon-wielding goons.

If you look carefully, you'll see that the recipient of said speech is none other than Spider-Man himself. Will he be tempted by the "for the people" rhetoric?

5. Spider-roMantic

We've already seen Parker being "creepy" about his classmate Liz Allan (Laura Harrier) in the first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer. But at some point he gets past creepy and on to some serious smooching action.

6. Spider-Tracer

We caught a glimpse of this in the preview for the trailer, but here's a longer look at the little flying robot disguised in the spider symbol on Parker's chest. Apart from the new flying feature, it looks a lot like the classic Spider-Tracer, a device Spider-Man invented that allows him to track his target using his spider-sense.

7. Donald Glover's role is still a mystery

The trailer still doesn't give us a hint as to who Glover will be playing. Our only glimpse of him is the same one we got in the previous trailer (although, bizarrely reversed). From the company he keeps, he seems to be one of the Vulture's goons. But there must be more to his role in the movie, right?

Spider-Man: Homecoming is out on July 7.
