London Home Worth £700,000 COLLAPSES On Itself While Undergoing Renovation

An end-of-terrace London home worth almost £700,000 has collapsed while undergoing renovation work.

The property, located on Lampmead Road, reportedly caved in on itself at roughly 11am on Wednesday morning, with local residents claiming that it sounded like a ‘bomb’ had gone off.

The incident occurred only a day after police secured a section of the road off after the property was deemed to be structurally unsafe.

Ken Taylor, who lives opposite the house, said that he initially heard a ‘big crunch.’

He told the Evening Standard: ‘It was strange, first of all a couple of bricks fell out then gradually the whole roof sagged outwards and some of it fell off.

‘Today they were just about to start inspecting it with a cherry picker when the whole roof fell in, maybe it was the vibrations from the cherry picker.

‘It was really exciting, there was a big crunch and a big cloud of dust, it was like a bomb had gone off.

‘Lots of people have been coming round taking pictures since it happened.’

According to Zoopla, The house sold at the beginning of the year for £665,000 and a planning application to build side and rear extensions was lodged with Lewisham Council in April.

Metropolitan Police have since confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident.
