737 MAX could soon be back in air - EU regulator

Boeing’s 737 MAX could be approved to fly again in November, and back in airline service by the end of the year.

That’s according to Europe’s chief aviation regulator.

Safety agency boss Patrick Ky says he expects to lift a flight ban not long after U.S. regulators.

That would probably come in November, followed by national clearances for individual airlines.

The EU agency has locked horns with the FAA and Boeing over some proposed changes.

But it says all but one of the differences have now been resolved.

The Boeing jets have been grounded since March last year, following two fatal crashes.

Now the incident will have lasting implications for the U.S. planemaker.

Ky says it will examine Boeing’s next new project - an update of its 777 wide body jet - ‘much more closely’.

He says it will pay particular attention to flight control systems, which were suspected to be the cause of the MAX crashes.
