If you've been anywhere near the centre of Newcastle over the last few days, you can't fail to have noticed that the Newcastle Christmas Market is back in town and, amongst all the food stalls, there is one drink that has had people flocking.

While it could most definitely be regarded as a bit 'retro' these days, some people still love a drop of Malibu now and again and, if you fall into that category, you will definitely want to get yourself to the Christmas Market over the next months as, one of the hottest drinks on the menu, quite literally, is the Malibu Hot Chocolate.

If you've ever paid a visit to Newcastle Christmas Market you'll know that hot chocolates have been part and parcel of the festivities for years but, if you like a bit of an extra kick with your beverage, you might want to head to the Mulled Wine and Hot Chocolate stand right next to Monument.

ChronicleLive called over there *for research purposes only* on Monday afternoon and, whilst in the queue heard a number of people talking about the Malibu hot chocolate, as well as customer in front of us buying one. Priced at £8 it's not the cheapest offering up for grabs at this year's Market, but it should certainly warm the cockles and give you a bit of extra spring in your step.

If Malibu isn't your poison, there is also the option to have a hot chocolate with Baileys or Amaretto in for the same price, with the slightly cheaper range of mulled wines at £6.50 including new alternatives like rose and spiced apple.

Newcastle Christmas Market will be at Grey's Monument, Grey Street, Grainger Street and Old Eldon Square until Sunday, December 22.
