Yahoo News 8 huge theories on EastEnders' explosive week
EastEnders fans are in for a treat next week as the show will be airing some of its most dramatic episodes in a while.
But while it's been revealed that Michelle Fowler's secret romance with teenager Preston Cooper will be exposed, that's pretty much all we know. The show's recent trailer told us to "brace ourselves" – and it's thought that there will be some sort of incident thrown into the mix – but with little else confirmed at the moment, we've been having to think outside the box. These are some of our biggest theories on how the drama will unfold:
1. The Fowlers disown Michelle
Ever since Preston arrived, one of Michelle's biggest fears has been her Walford family finding out what she's been up to. And given that her name is dirt back in her America hometown, we are quite surprised that word hasn't got back to Martin and co already. But nevertheless, Michelle's worst nightmare will come true next week as everyone looks set to find out about her tumultuous toyboy romance. To make matters worse, love rat Preston has been seeing her niece Bex at the same time – somewhat conveniently setting the scene for a gigantic family fallout.
Bex can be seen looking distraught in the show's trailer promoting the explosive episodes, so we can only assume that she takes the news rather badly. With Bex devastated, Martin will certainly have a word (or two) to say about his sister's treatment of his precious daughter – because let's face it, when does he not? But the big question is: will Michelle's romance with Preston cost her this family too?
2. Dennis gets revenge
Dennis the Menace has spent the last few weeks blackmailing Michelle after discovering the truth about her relationship with Preston. So far his threats have only centred around school, games, trainers – and even pizza – but could he just be biding his time? Things took a dark turn in last night's episode when Michelle lost her temper with the scheming schoolboy and slapped him. The aftermath of Michelle's actions is bound to be explored in Monday's visit Walford – but could Dennis be saving his trump card for these episodes? We did warn you he was one to watch this year...
3. There is another accident
This one is looking likely. We might only just be getting over the high octane bus crash, but there a have been a few strong spoiler hints suggesting we could be in for another epic stunt. With an "unexpected incident", "disastrous consequences", and "shockwaves across the Square" all promised – it's hard not to speculate that this could be pointing to a disaster in the physical form. But how – and why – the latest carnage comes about really does remain to be seen at the moment.
However, we do know that a troubled Michelle is currently battling alcohol addiction, sleep deprivation, and other stress induced problems, so could she be responsible for whatever unfolds? Could she get drunk and cause an accident? Will there be a car crash? Will someone fall off the Vic roof (they do seem to be focusing on it an awful lot at the moment!)? The possibilities are endless – and exciting.
4. Preston dies
If we are being brutally honest, it has been hard to warm to Preston. Not only does there appear to be a lack of chemistry between him and his "girl" 'Chelle, but he's also just a bit really annoying. He storms out of restaurants, he forgets to deliver Denise's flyers , and he's cruelly using vulnerable schoolgirl Bex in his warped love games. With all that considered, we can't see Preston sticking around forever, so could it be that the story is building to a devastating ending? The spoilers tease that Michelle is set to lose control with big repercussions – but could Preston get caught in the crossfire? Could he die in her arms Ronnie/Danielle style? It's certainly a thought...
5. Michelle and Preston split for good – and he leaves
Whether he meets his maker or not, we really can't see Preston staying in Walford once the truth comes out. Not only is his mum clearly desperate for him to return to the States, but it's doubtful that Sharon and Phil will let him continue letting him stay at theirs once they return home. And it's looking like Bex probably won't want anymore to do with him either. So could next week's big episodes culminate in Michelle and Preston finally calling it quits and him heading back to America?
6. Michelle and Preston leave together
This one is unlikely, but it's hard not to consider all the same. While we can't see Preston becoming a regular fixture, we also can't see Michelle going for good – considering they've only just recast her. But then again, she may feel like there is nothing left for her in Walford once the truth comes out and opt for a life abroad with Preston. This would be a terrible waste, but it might finally give her the happy ending she desperately needs.
7. Sylvie dies
Sadly, we know that Sylvie's days are numbered following reports that she is being killed off , but what if her exit arrives sooner than we thought? Could Sylvie be the shock victim of the disaster that is set to unfold after Michelle's secret comes out? Or could she pass away from an unrelated incident?
Tina is currently taking steps to place Sylvie in a full time care home, but it's looking like the decision will be taken out of her hands if her mum dies before the arrangement gets sorted. The Carters have certainly had a tough time of it lately, but Sylvie's tragic and untimely death would turn their lives upside down. And with no Mick, Linda, or Shirley – who will be there for Tina in her time of need?
8. Kush and Denise get passionate
Let's face it, this one is not a matter of if, but when – and what better time than next week? Given that Denise and Kush are amongst the only characters (other than Michelle and Preston) who are mentioned in the spoilers for this explosive week, it likely that they are going to be involved somehow.
We have already revealed that Kush will lay his heart on the line over upcoming episode – telling Denise she needs to make a decision about their future. But we know little about the outcome of his ultimatum. The pair had a brief fling earlier last year, and have spent the last few weeks dancing around each other, but maybe all they need is a wake up call to realise that life is too short. With disaster expected to hit Walford again, could this be the nudge they need to get together properly?
EastEnders' big week will commence on Monday March 27 at 8pm on BBC One.
