8 times EastEnders' Abi Branning was deliciously evil

EastEnders' Abi Branning might look like a saint, with her angelic face and that sweet blonde hair, but we're not deceived! You may not think it immediately, but this little sinner's done some dark deeds in her time.

This bad behaviour takes many forms, including – but not limited to – attacking her neighbours, faking a pregnancy to stop her gay boyfriend from straying, showing zero remorse after running her pet over and currently meddling in her sister's love life for her own gain.

Our verdict? Abi's a bit of a liability, and a potentially dangerous one at that. So without further ado, here are eight times when she showed us how to be a proper nasty piece of work.

1. Not caring about killing her dog

Given that Abi works in a vets, you'd think she would be a fan of all furry four-legged creatures, but turns out, not so much. Back in 2014, the Branning family mutt, Tramp, met a rather unfortunate end when Abi accidentally ran him over while trying to speed out of Walford having been dumped by Jay. Everyone was heartbroken by the tragic incident – all expect for Abi, who just callously, and now famously, remarked "things die".

Maybe the brutal response was driven by bitterness over her boyfriend giving her the boot, but it was a definite early indication that Abi had a dark side. It's also made us question whether she did away with Marge the guinea pig, too.

2. Dunking Lauren in the apple-bobbing bowl

Everyone deserves a good scare on Halloween, but that's no excuse for deliberately trying to drown your sister. Abi's always resented playing second fiddle to her selfish sibling, but when she thought Lauren had had a part to play in her split with Jay, that was it!

Disguising herself in a creepy weeping angel costume, Abi stalked Lauren around the Square, but it wasn't long before her cover was blown. As the girls returned home to have it out with one another, angry Abi lashed out at Lauren, grabbing her hair and holding her under the water of the apple-bobbing bowl.

Perhaps someone should have mentioned those weren't the rules of the game…

3. Battering Lucy Beale

With a womaniser for a father, Abi was no stranger to Max trying it on with any bit of skirt that took his fancy. But when it was revealed that Max had been getting his end away with Lauren's best mate, Lucy, it was a step too far.

Disgusted by her dad's choice of lover, Abs took it upon herself to confront Lucy – on the same night she was murdered – and, in her own words, give the blonde "a battering" (which, in reality, wasn't much more than a slap around the chops).

Their fight on that fateful night meant Abi was one of the main suspects in the 'Who killed Lucy?' case – but as it turned out, she wasn't the person who delivered the last lethal blow.

4. Framing Max for Lucy's murder

Still stewing with Max over his affair with Lucy, vengeful Abi then got it into her head that her father must have been the one who killed her, too. And when Ben was wrongly arrested for the murder, she had no qualms telling Phil that Max had assaulted Lucy just before her death. This liberal use of the truth resulted in Ben being released – and Max then turning himself into the Old Bill for a crime he didn't even commit.

Family loyalty was clearly in short supply for Abi, though, as she then proceeded to give the police a full statement confirming she'd helped Max clean Lucy's blood up from the Car Lot – and even lied under oath in court saying Max had confessed to the crime. Shame on you, girl.

5. Attacking Stacey in the middle of the Square

As the woman responsible for wrecking the marriage of Abi's parents, it would be fair to say Stacey isn't in Abi's good books. And she definitely didn't take kindly to Stace's suggestion that she'd killed Lucy, either. Oh no!

Seeing red, Abs somewhat cruelly blamed Stacey for Bradley's death instead, then launched herself at her dad's former squeeze, throwing her to the ground and clawing at her like a crazed animal. If it wasn't for Martin stepping in to break the catfight up, we're pretty sure Abi would have ended scratching poor Stacey's eyes out.

6. Faking being pregnant with Ben's baby

Abi had been in denial for ages that her boyfriend Ben was actually gay – that was until he started seeing Paul Coker right in front of her. Terrified of losing her man, Abi pretended she was preggers and somehow tried to convince Ben this is what he wanted.

With no baby in her belly, desperate times called for desperate measures, and following Babe's bad advice to sleep with someone else, Abi had unprotected sex with Lee Carter (although the only thing she managed to get from him was chlamydia).

But the all-time low came when she faked a miscarriage – and allowed Ben to grieve for a child that never even existed. 'Bunny boiler' achievement unlocked.

7. Locking Babe in the freezer

She may frequently be harsh, but sometimes there's a wicked logic to Abi's shenanigans. We know it was naughty, but how could we not applaud her for locking Aunt Babe in the Vic freezer? That evil old cow needed to be taught a lesson after all the emotional blackmail she'd subjected Abs to.

Breaking point for Abi came when Babe managed to manipulate Linda into giving Miss B her marching orders from the Vic kitchen. Waiting until the coast was clear, Abi snuck back after hours and watched Babe enter the large freezer, before slamming the door behind her and calmly walking away. Well, they do say that revenge is a dish best served cold...

8. Stirring the pot between Lauren and Steven

Lauren and Steven's relationship is getting a little crowded these days, what with Josh and now Abi trying to drive a wedge between the couple. After playing the role of supportive sister by accompanying Lauren to terminate Steven' s sprog in secret, Abi's now decided she rather likes having something over her sibling.

Not only that, but she's developed a sudden unhealthy obsession with Steven. What's that all about, eh? We already know that loose-lipped Abi is about to betray Lauren's trust, and spill the beans to Steven about the termination, but is she going to stop there? Is the ruthless little madam going to get her claws into Josh and Steven just to mess with Lauren's head?

We would literally put nothing past her, so let the games begin!
