9-1-1: Lone Star actor reacts to shock twist in season 4 finale
9-1-1: Lone Star season 4 finale spoilers follow.
9-1-1: Lone Star actor Rafael Silva has opened up about that shocking death in the show's season 4 finale.
The first episode of last night's (May 16) two-part finale saw Carlos's (Silva) dad Gabriel (Benito Martinez) give his son an offer to join the Texas Rangers, which exposed a rift between the pair, especially over the Rangers' history of discrimination.
However, the two were able to repair the cracks with some help from TK (Ronen Rubinstein) and Andrea (Roxana Brusso).

Yet the joy was tragically cut short when Gabriel was fatally shot, only days before his son's wedding to TK, and the episode concluded with his funeral.
Speaking about the horrific turn of events, Silva told Entertainment Weekly: "In essence, it's a heartbreak that we're witnessing.
"And it wasn't just only a heartbreak for the character, it was also a heartbreak for me. I was really bummed out about the possibility with working with Benito... that it wouldn't be as constant anymore."

The actor also explained how the death affected both his character and him as an actor, the star continuing: "Have you ever been delivered bad news that wasn't for you but you had to tell somebody else? That's what it felt like.
"I was like, 'Oh, f**k. I'm going to have to tell Carlos this.' That wasn't fun. That said, as an actor I was grateful for the opportunity to explore this story and this experience for Carlos."
However, he did tease a possible future appearance of Gabriel (possibly in a flashback), suggesting he is "pretty sure this is not the last that we will see Benito".
Alongside Gabriel's death, the two-part finale also saw the passing of Owen's brother Robert (Chad Lowe) via assisted suicide.
9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star both air on FOX and Hulu in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
