The 9 Best Looks at the 2020 CMT Music Awards

It may not have been a traditional award ceremony due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but the 2020 CMT Music Awards made it work. Musicians like Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey, and Sam Hunt performed from outside in Nashville, from their homes, or from remote locations in pre-taped segments, while co-hosts Sarah Hyland, Ashley McBryde, and Kane Brown gave out awards live. But, just as important as the awards was the fashion, and plenty of country stars made a statement in their "red carpet" (ahem, or not) looks.

Scroll through for our picks for the best-dressed celebs at the 2020 CMT Music Awards, whether it was a casual at-home look or full red carpet glamour. And, um, yes, co-host Hyland is on there three times, and no it's not a mistake. She earned it.

Let's just kick this off by saying Hyland took her hosting duties seriously from an outfit change department. The first of her three looks, however, may just be our favorite. The two-piece co-ords from Christian Siriano in bright colors and with a big bow were one thing, but the Vote mask really brought it to another level.

Kelsea Ballerini

Kelsea Ballerini was already a star for her Coyote Ugly-inspired performance with Halsey, but she also rocked the red carpet in this disco queen look. It's actually a Tom Ford blouse, not a mini dress, but it's working for her.

Maren Morris

Maren Morris performed at the 2020 CMT Music Awards via her home in a pre-taped segment, but because this is a wild time for award shows, we have to include her in our best-dressed celebs list. While we wish we could get an even better look, we're loving the giraffe-print look and those curls!

Mickey Guyton

Loving this semi-sheer, sparkly, long-sleeved dress on Mickey Guyton, who performed "Heaven Down Here" for the show. Even better is that she is making her pregnant stomach a bit of a red carpet accessory.

Sarah Hyland (again)

Hyland's second look could have come off as '80s prom, but it totally works. The bold fushia color is matched with a pouf one-shoulder and a dramatic train. Plus, do you even see those spiked Louboutins?

Gabby Barrett

Gabby Barrett looked like a boss on the red carpet in her all-black look with an embellished jacket. Later in the night, Taylor Swift presented Barrett with the CMT Breakthrough Video Award for "I Hope," 13 years after Swift won the award herself.

Taylor Swift

We have to add an honorable mention spot for Taylor Swift herself, who only appeared briefly to give the award to Barrett. Sure, her black turtleneck is standard, cozy at-home attire, but the hair braid! Loving.

Ingrid Andress

Country singer Ingrid Andress brought some Spice Girls realness to the 2020 CMT Music Awards red carpet. Her '90s look didn't feel costume-y, and we loved it.

Sarah Hyland (yes, for the third time)

Sparkly and slinky, we loved Hyland's final outfit change of her duties co-hosting the 2020 CMT Music Awards.
