Holby will be breaking away from its usual house style again next week, as the show pays tribute to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Plans for the special episode were first revealed in Digital Spy's exclusive interview with producer Jane Wallbank last summer, with regulars Sacha and Essie due to play a integral part of the story.

Last August, Jane said: "We are also in script stage for a very special episode the BBC has asked us to do for Holocaust Memorial Day as it will be the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, and the pre-existing family background with Sacha and Essie plays into that. It's set in the hospital but we do play with the format to delve into history a little."

Sacha will be given a devastated blow when his great aunt Maria is admitted to the hospital on the 75th Holocaust Memorial Day.

With Maria extremely unwell, Essie and Dom rally round and support a heartbroken Sacha – as he keeps vigil by her bedside.

As Sacha desperately tries to on to the hope that she might pull through, it's clear that Maria – who, poignantly, is a Holocaust survivor – is deteriorating rapidly. Can Essie support a devastated Sacha through his grief?

Cameron is pleased to get Chloe on her own later on, but their evening doesn't go as he hoped when she rejects his attempts to get passionate.

Cameron's day takes a difficult turn, thanks to a stabbing victim and her nervous boyfriend Owen.

Feeling irritated over their lack of transparency, Cameron begins to lose his cool with the pair as he tries to get to the bottom of what's happened between them.

Unfortunately, Cameron's slightly aggressive questioning leaves Owen feeling pressurised and he is soon bolting out of the hospital.

As Cameron runs after him, he is horrified to realise that Owen has also been stabbed. And that's just the beginning of the drama...

After pulling pulling off a risky procedure in the lift, Cameron faces his third dilemma of the day when it comes to Jason.

Although Jason heroically and bravely steps in for Cameron during the surgery, he then faces some rather huge repercussions if anyone were to find out.

Acutely aware that Jason isn't insured or authorised to to perform medical procedures, Cameron is left with the unenviable task of urging him to keep quiet later on.

Despite knowing that his seniors at the hospital can't find out what he did, Jason is left distressed when Cameron also explains that the same rule applies to his wife Greta. Will Jason listen to Cameron, or is he facing punishment?

Unfortunately, Nicky's problems only intensify later one when her troubled mum Tracy turns up and admits that she still hasn’t paid off her debt to the man in the car crash.

Piling on the demands, Tracy also tells Nicky that she’s been getting threatening phone calls and doesn't know what to do, leaving the doctor to make another risky decision in a bid to help her.

It turns out Essie's decision to cut ties with new boyfriend Ben is a short-lived one as she's having another change of heart next week.
