"Reality stars have no talent, they're just famous for being famous" – hands up if you've heard that phrase before. Yeah, us too.

And okay, we admit it, sometimes it is the case – but not always. In fact, we'd really like to take this opportunity to point out that there are a lot of reality stars out there who do have genuine talent. Perhaps you just don't know the stars from shows like Geordie Shore and TOWIE as well as you think you do...

1. Chloe Ferry, Geordie Shore

Hidden talent: Ice-skating

She's probably more famous for her chicken-nugget addiction, getting absolutely mortal and being a total radge packet. But did you know Chloe is actually one seriously talented ice-skater? Believe it or not, she took up the sport aged seven and long before before Geordie Shore came along, she entered competitions and was crowned an ice-skating champion.

2. Gemma Collins, TOWIE

Hidden talent: Singing and tap dancing

Yes, really! Before TOWIE was on the scene, The GC knew she'd be famous but she was convinced it would be because of her talent – not reality TV. In her younger years, she attended several theatre schools and studied to become a professional West End performer. She is extensively trained in acting, singing and even tap dancing!

3. Tyne-Lexy Clarkson, Love Island

Hidden talent: Artist

Wow.

Tyne-Lexy might not be one of the most memorable characters from this year's Love Island, but we won't be forgetting her artwork in a hurry. Why did she keep this one quiet in the villa?

4. JWoww, Jersey Shore

Hidden talent: Artist

Who would've thought? JWoww is now better known for flashing the flesh and getting hammered on TV, but the US star is actually a genuinely talented artist. She studied the history of art at college and owned her own graphic design company before she became famous on Jersey Shore.

5. Gaz Beadle, Geordie Shore

Hidden talent: Gamer

You might not have Gaz down for a geek, but he is seriously competitive when it comes to gaming. Seriously, he's even entered gaming leagues but rarely likes to mention it. On one occasion though, when he was feeling particularly proud, the Geordie Shore star admitted he was ranked one of the best gamers in the UK for his Call of Duty skills after a huge winning streak.

6. Jess Impiazzi, Ex on the Beach

Hidden talent: Actress

Jess studied to be become an actress at one of the best-known theatre schools in the UK, the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Following her popularity on MTV's Ex on the Beach, she appears to be slowly trying to distance herself from reality TV to focus more on her acting career. You can watch the trailer to her latest film Dangerous Game, here.

7. Jamie Jewitt, Love Island

Hidden talent: Guitar

There's more to Jamie than just a pretty face – he's actually a pretty decent guitar player. Although he kept quiet about this on Love Island, he's been very vocal about his secret talent on recent trips to refugee camps with girlfriend Camilla Thurlow. The sweeter-than-sugar couple have shared videos online of Jamie trying to teach vulnerable children how to play the instrument.

8. Aaron Chalmers, Geordie Shore

Hidden talent: Mixed Martial Arts

In the Geordie Shore house, Aaron is probably one of the less confrontational personalities. However, put him in a cage and it's another story. The reality hunk has previously spoken about wanting to take on mixed martial arts professionally, but none of us believed he'd be that good at it. Now though, he's had two fights and won both. Should Connor McGregor be worried?

9. Megan McKenna, TOWIE

Hidden talent: Singing

ITV's There's Something About Megan didn't exactly rake in the viewers, so you'd be forgiven for not knowing that Ms McKenna is one amazing singer. The TOWIE's star spin-off reality show focused on her travels to America, where she has been trying to kick-start her music career. Her debut single 'High Heeled Shoes' was released just last month and reached number one in the iTunes chart.
