Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty fans, it's happening. Back in May, viewers were left concerned certain stories would forever remain a mystery when the BBC made the difficult decision to skip an entire episode.

Saturday's edition, named 'Code Orange', was initially scheduled to air during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, but after careful consideration, was postponed due to its parallels with the real-world situation.

As you'll see this weekend, the scenes involved the ED going into full lockdown following a chemical attack, rendering the story inappropriate for airing in the spring.

It's important to remember that this episode was due to air four months ago – and we've seen plenty of new developments since – but here are nine big spoilers as Casualty finally airs that missing episode...

1. Marty is tested for HIV

If we cast our minds back a few months, then viewers will remember that Marty was left panic-stricken after realising he'd had unprotected sex with a patient who was HIV+ and not taking his medication.

Before his shift in next week's episode, Marty heads to the clinic, where he is tested for HIV. While he is there, Marty is forced to address his issues with drugs and partying but is reassured that he's followed all the necessary steps by taking PEP. An anxious Marty then heads back to the ED, where his day is about to get even worse...

2. The ED is thrown into chaos

As we mentioned above, the ED will be thrown into chaos next week when two patients are brought in with mysterious symptoms.

Already troubled by their lack of response to medication, the team begin to connect the dots when another patient – Julia – arrives with similar symptoms.

When Connie's fears are confirmed, she immediately initiates the nerve agent protocol. With no-one allowed in or out of the department, and everyone in protective Hazmat suits, it's down to Marty to calm those in the Waiting Area. However, he is faced with conflicting interests when he bumps into his dad Graham, who's also beginning to feel unwell.

3. Marty faces more heartbreak

Despite the danger of the situation, Graham is unable to avoid addressing his feelings towards Marty, making it clear that he cannot and will not accept his sexuality.

Under pressure, Marty snaps and explains that there's a chance he's contracted HIV, leaving Grahame petrified.

However, when it later becomes clear that Graham is infected with the nerve agent, Marty regrets their early argument and fears he could lose his dad forever. Will Graham be okay?

4. Jade struggles with an unprecedented situation

With the ED in chaos, Dylan and Jade step in to treat the victims of the nerve agent attack, while Rash is able to decontaminate himself.

During this episode, viewers will see how Jade, who is deaf, struggles to hear what her colleagues are telling her through all their protective gear and urges them to try and talk slower so that she can lip read.

It's important to note these scenes were meant to air prior to Jade's special episode in July, which saw her deafness, and the challenges she faces at work as a result, explored in more detail.

5. Will exposes Fenisha's baby secret

Desperate to know the identity of the father of Fenisha's baby, Will becomes frustrated when Fenisha refuses to give him the time of day.

Noticing the tension between them, Ethan can't resist getting involved, and questions Will about what's going on. Stuck in Resus with the nerve agent patients, Will avoids Ethan's questioning, until Fenisha approaches.

Concerned for the baby, and struggling to control his emotions, Will angrily announces Fenisha's pregnancy to all in earshot (aka just Ethan), leaving her furious.

6. Ethan makes a discovery

The biggest story impacted due to Casualty's skipped episode was regarding Fenisha – and how Ethan came to learn of his rather vital involvement in her pregnancy.

Although Ethan initially assumes that Will is the father of Fenisha's baby, his mind goes into overdrive when he realises that is not actually the case.

When Will denies being the father, a key moment will see Ethan decide to confront Fenisha about the situation and he's stunned when she immediately confirms his suspicions.

As Ethan tries to articulate his feelings about this – particularly due to his Huntington's diagnosis– he is interrupted and never gets the chance. Alas, Fenisha still didn't know about Ethan's history when the show went on a hiatus in real time, and he was under the impression that she'd had an abortion.

7. Rash steps in to help Dylan

As Dylan works with Jade on a seriously unwell patient, he is horrified to realise that the fan in his protective suit is malfunctioning, causing his helmet to steam up.

As Dylan begins to panic, Jade is unable to continue treatment as she's relying on lip-reading, and Rash is forced to step in instead.

Desperate for air, Dylan lifts his helmet off, but panics even more when he realises the danger he's exposed himself to. Thankfully, Rash is able to stabilise the patient and is later praised by Dylan for his quick thinking.

8. Connie and Noel make a horrifying discovery

With the ED in lockdown, Connie and Noel make the further horrifying realisation that the perpetrator of the nerve attack is in the hospital.

Noel is dumbfounded when he watches a recording of the culprit explaining his motives – which was, ultimately, an act of revenge.

In a panic, Connie sends armed police to scour the hospital, but will they locate him?

9. Will and Ethan come to blows

Once again, fans will finally be able to piece together the jigsaw of how – and why – Will came to find out about Ethan and Fenisha.

After realising that Ethan is the father of Fenisha's baby, a furious Will confronts him in the car park.

Luckily, Lev manages to intercept before things get too out of hand, but Will is left devastated by the events of the day – with his relationships with both Fenisha and Ethan in tatters.

Casualty airs the missing episode on Saturday, September 26 at 9.20pm on BBC One.
