Gao Bingguo set the Guinness World Record after he was doused in 109.05kg bees.

Gao, 55, was stung over 2,000 times during the ordeal and despite his body temperature rising to a dangerous 60 degrees Celsius, he managed to survive and beat the previous record of 85.5kg.

Organizers began the record attempt on the morning of Monday, 25 May by placing a number of queen bees on his body, which would help to attract the worker bees.

Boxes of the insects were later dumped at his feet in increasingly large quantities, slowly crawling on to his body.

Gao, who has kept bees for over 35 years, ended up with 1.09 million bees crawling all over him.
