A1 diversion route today as Rutland crash leaves road closed
The A1 is closed due to a 'multi-vehicle' crash in Rutland today (Thursday, September 26). The northbound carriageway is shut to traffic between Stamford and Stretton, according to National Highways.
A traffic diversion route is in place due to the reported closure. Motorists are being advised to factor extra time into their journeys.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "The A1 is closed northbound between the A606 (Stamford) and the B668 (Stretton) due to a multi-vehicle collision. Leicestershire Police are in attendance. National Highways service providers are on scene to assist with traffic management."

A1 diversion route:
Road users are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road sign: Exit the A1 at A606 Stamford N/B exit slip road. Continue westbound along the A606 through the villages of Empingham & Whitwell until the A606/A6003/ B640 Oakham Bypass roundabout.
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A606 Burley Park Way At Melton Mowbray, head north along Burton Street, then left (west) onto Leicester Street (one-way), then north along Wilton Road to the A606/A6006/A607 Wilton Road/Norman Way junction.
At the junction, turn right (east) onto Norman Way & continue to the A607/B676 Thorpe Lane Junction. Turn left (north/east) onto A607 Thorpe Lane, heading out of Melton Mowbray.
Continue along the A607 through the villages of Thorpe Arnold, Waltham on the Woulds, Croxton Kerrial & Harlaxton to the A1/A607 N/B slip road roundabout (Farmers Arms). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A1.
