A total of 11 vehicles were involved in several multi-vehicle crashes on a major A-road in Cornwall today (Monday, January 27). Emergency services responded to four separate multi-vehicle crashes on the A30, with no fewer than 11 vehicles involved.

Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Marazanvose at around 10.15am. Only minor injuries were reported, and the vehicles were recovered from the scene around midday.

Just over an hour later, around 1.05pm, police responded to three other multi-vehicle crashes, near Roche. Nine vehicles were involved in the three separate crashes on the eastbound and westbound carriageways. The ambulance service was called to the scene, but it is not thought that anyone suffered any injuries.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "Police were called around 1.05pm on 27 January following multiple collisions on the A30 near Roche. Nine vehicles were involved in three collisions on the eastbound and westbound carriageways.

"No injuries reported although ambulance did attend. The A30 eastbound was closed and the westbound carriageway partially closed. All reopened around 3.35pm."

The Met Office issued two weather warnings for rain and wind, with widespread disruption forecast. Heavy rain and strong winds have wrecked havoc across the South West, with flood warnings in place and key routes blocked by fallen trees.

Emergency services attended dozens of weather-related incidents over the weekend, with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service dealing with over a dozen just yesterday. Drivers are advised to drive to the conditions and to avoid driving through flood water.
