Drivers have been told to avoid a major dual carriageway due to flooding. A stretch of the A331 which runs between the Hogs Back and the M3 has been closed in both directions.

The Blackwater Valley Route has been shut near its junction for Ash and Aldershot. Surrey Highways urged drivers to "avoid the area and use alternative routes".

Long delays are building in the area and drivers are being diverted via the entry and exit slip roads. There is queuing traffic between Tongham Services and the Ash Vale junction.

A Surrey Highways spokesperson said: "We have over 150 significant flooding incidents across the county and various other emergencies including a car fire this morning."

Heavy rain brought overnight and on Wednesday morning by Storm Conall has caused flooding across the county including roads and on the railways. The tracks between Guildford and Ash were underwater meaning Great Western Railway trains were unable to run.

A Surrey County Council spokesperson told SurreyLive: "Our emergency hub is experiencing extremely high volumes of calls at present and all of our emergency highways officers are out dealing with incidents across Surrey."
