A38 crash leaves person seriously injured as A-road closed

Potentially life-threatening injuries have been reported at the scene of a crash on the A38 in Cornwall. The busy A-road has been closed in both directions near Bodmin following reports of a two-vehicle crash this morning (June 1).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.20am. Two cars, a blue Fiesta and a white BMW, were involved in the serious collision on the road between Drift Lane and the Bodmin Parkway train station.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said that potentially life-changing injuries had been reported at the scene. Head to the live blog on our website for updates and more information on this incident.

The road remains closed in both directions. National Highways said: "The A38 in Cornwall is closed in both directions between the A390 (Dobwalls) and the A30 (Bodmin) due to a serious collision. This is a Devon and Cornwall Police led incident."

Traffic monitor Inrix adds: "A38 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident, two cars involved from Drift Lane to the Bodmin Parkway train station."

Traffic is being diverted around the collision and Highways has advised anyone planning to take the route to allow extra time for their journeys today. Motorists in both directions are being told to divert via the A390 and B3269.
