A38 diversion routes after 'life-changing injury' crash

Traffic is being diverted around a serious crash on the A38 in Cornwall. The road has been closed in both directions near Bodmin after a two-vehicle collision resulted in potential life-changing injuries.

Emergency services were called to the crash, located between Bodmin Parkway station and Drift Lane, at around 11.20am today (June 1). A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said a blue Fiesta and white BMW were involved in the collision and serious, potentially life-changing injuries have been reported at the scene.

National Highways has advised motorists to allow extra time if driving in the area today. The road remains closed in both directions between Dobwells and Bodmin.

National Highways said: "The A38 in Cornwall is closed in both directions between the A390 (Dobwalls) and the A30 (Bodmin) due to a serious collision. This is a Devon and Cornwall Police led incident"

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to Follow the Solid Square Diversion Symbols

  • Take the B3269 then at Lostwithiel take the A390

  • Continue on the A390 and re-join the A38 at Twelvewoods.

Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the Solid Square Diversion symbols

  • Take the A390 at Twelvewoods

  • Continue on the A390 then join the B3269 and continue north to re-join the A38

Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "A38 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident, two cars involved from Drift Lane to the Bodmin Parkway train station."
