Firefighters were called to a lorry fire on the A50 - which left delays in the area. The incident on the westbound carriageway in Heron Cross left the route 'partially blocked'.

Now Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed crews blasted 'overheated brake pads' with jets. StokeonTrentLive reported at the time how Wednesday's incident triggered delays in the area with the vehicle needing to be recovered.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 3.45pm on November 13. A spokesperson said: "We were called to the A50 Heron Cross, between Fenton and Blurton, following reports of a lorry fire.

"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to cool down overheated brake pads on a lorry. We also checked for leftover hotspots before leaving the scene in the care of highways. No-one was injured."
