A500 drivers caught out as police deploy crime-fighting lorry
Police have used a truck to help put the brakes on rule-breaking A500 motorists. During the crackdown officers also targeted the M6 through North Staffordshire.
Now officers with Staffordshire Police's road crime team have revealed how 30 offences were recorded during yesterday's initiative.
Staffordshire cops using an unmarked truck is not a new concept and forms part of the national Operation Tramline. The initiative sees forces team up with National Highways to use a HGV cab to give officers a clear view into that of other lorries along with other vehicles.

The latest instalment saw officers head out onto the A500 and as well as the M6 between junction 13 for Stafford South and junction 16 for Stoke-on-Trent North. In total 13 drivers were spotted using a phone, 11 without a seatbelt, one motorist driving without due care, and another seen speeding. In addition three overweight vehicles were also stopped.
Sergeant Rob Powell, of the road crime team, said: "Excellent team effort - as well as responding to other incidents on the roads of Staffordshire."
