A crash between a truck and a car has shut a stretch of the A500. Emergency services were called to the scene near Barthomley just after 8.55am.

The collision has resulted in traffic coming to a stop on the D-road just over the border in North Staffordshire with queues from the M6 stretching back to Audley. Cheshire Police say officers had been called out at 8.56am.

A spokesman said: "Police were called to a collision on the A500 Barthomley. Officers attended and found the collision involved two vehicles, a HGV and a car. There are no reports of any injuries, but the road is currently closed while recovery work is undertaken."
