North Wales has its first snow of the winter - with tricky driving conditions on the A55. People across north east Wales have reported heavy snowfalls.

This comes after the Met Office had issued warnings about snow and ice this week. These affected North Wales, the north of England and Scotland.

This evening a band of snow hit the region. Traffic Wales cameras show a blanket of snow across Flintshire - affecting stretches at Dobs Hill, Buckley and Ewloe Interchange. There's also snow on the A494 and A483.

Traffic Wales reported a closure of the A55 eastbound at Junction 31 (Caerwys) at 10pm due to a collision and heavy snowfall. Drivers have also reported traffic being stuck westbound (at around 10.45pm) at Pentre Halkyn.

There are reports of vehicles getting stuck. The A483 Southbound J7 Rossett interchange - J6 Gresford interchange is closed (11pm) due to a collision and heavy snow

Heritage Way at Tanyfron, Wrexham is also currently closed (10pm Monday) due to the weather conditions. Please avoid the area.

Traffic Wales said: "Our gritters will be out across the network this evening. Winter is a challenging time for road users, as the weather can lead to potentially dangerous road conditions. However planning ahead and driving to the conditions can help you stay safe."

As well as warning of snow the Met Office highlighted potential ice on the roads and pavements as we move into Tuesday morning.

National Highways have issued an amber severe weather alert for snow in the North East and North West regions of England from today at 7pm until Tuesday at 10am.
