A57 accident today latest as two rushed to hospital and road closed

Two people have been rushed to hospital after a serious car crash in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a crash on the A57 Sheffield Road at 8.47am this morning. A Ford Transit van and a grey Toyota Corolla crashed into each other on the road.

One man has been taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. A woman has also been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road remains closed as the emergency services remain on the scene. The A57 Sheffield Road has been closed between Kiveton Lane and Mill Lane.

South Yorkshire Police said: "At 8.47am today (Thursday 26 September) we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Sheffield Road.

"It is reported that a black Ford Transit van and a grey Toyota Corolla were involved in a collision.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and Sheffield Road is currently closed in both directions from the junction with Kiveton Lane to the junction with Mill Lane.

"A man has been taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries which are not described as life-threatening. A woman has been taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries."
