A59 closed for hours as biker in his 60s rushed to hospital after serious crash near McDonald's
A man in his 60s has been rushed to hospital following a serious motorbike crash which has left a major road closed for hours.
Police and paramedics were called to the A59 in east Lancashire at around 8am this morning (September 14). The road has been closed on the Clitheroe-bound carriageway between the A671 and the McDonald's roundabout.
Lancashire Constabulary said a male motorcyclist in his 60s has been taken to hospital in a 'serious but stable condition' following reports of a road traffic collision. An investigation has been launched to 'establish the full circumstances which led to the motorcyclist coming off his motorbike'.

A force spokesperson told LancsLive: "We were called to the A59 at Whalley at between the roundabout at the junction with Accrington Road A671 and the roundabout at McDonald's at 8.05am following reports of an RTC. A male motorcyclist in his 60s has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
"Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the motorcyclist coming off his motorbike. Anyone with information or dashcam is asked to email forcecontrolroom@lancashire.police.uk or call 101. Quote log 311 of September 14, 2024."
Ribble Valley earlier posted on Facebook saying: "ROAD CLOSURE We currently have a road closure in place, due to a road traffic collision.
"The closure is in place on the A59, Clitheroe bound, between A671 and the McDonald's roundabout. We would ask that during this time, you find alternative routes of travel. Thank you."
Traffic alert service Inrix reports: "A59 Northbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accident between the A671 and Holm Road."
