The AA asks drivers to 'consider one thing' before venturing out in Storm Eowyn
Before venturing out into Storm Eowyn, the AA has asked drivers to 'consider one thing'. The Met Office has issued red, amber and yellow weather warnings for much of the UK, with heavy rain and 70mph gusts expected.
As red alerts indicate there could be a danger to life, motorists have been urged to take extra care on the roads on Friday, January 24. The breakdown specialists has encouraged people to 'be prepared' and to 'expect debris and fallen branches on the road'.
Chris Wood, AA Patrol of the Year, said: “As the warning has risen from amber to red in the most northern and western areas of the UK, we urge drivers to consider whether their journey is necessary. And if not postpone it."

He continued: "If you do need to travel, make sure you’re prepared for what you may encounter. Expect to come across fallen branches and other debris on the roads, especially in rural areas.
“Allow extra time for your journey, as it’s likely to take longer than usual. Pack the essentials for emergencies in case you do breakdown – warm waterproof clothing, a torch, and a flask of hot drink. Ensure your mobile phone is fully charged and download the AA app and what3words to help us get to you faster if the worst should happen.”
In the Midlands, the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for wind and rain on Friday, January 24. Another yellow warning for rain is in place across the region from 8am on Sunday until 6am on Monday.
