Aaron Jarvis and Brett McGavin to leave Torquay United

The Bryn Consortium – whose ownership of Torquay United is still to be ratified – say they understand ‘player recruitment is at the forefront of most supporters’ minds’ – but a little more patience is going to be required.

In a week that two players from last season, Aaron Jarvis and Brett McGavin, said they were not going to be returning to the club, the consortium posted an update on the club’s website, which also asked for fans’ thoughts on the future of the club – something that is a vast step forward after five years of poor communication from the previous board.

However, while football advisor Neil Warnock and manager Paul Wotton are working hard, talking to players, and planning for next season – until the deal is finally signed, the consortium are restricted in what they can do, and what they can announce.

The statement said: “We know that news on Paul and Neil’s player recruitment is at the forefront of most supporter’s minds, and we appreciate your patience for a little while longer. Rest assured, lots of work is going on behind the scenes in assembling a competitive squad for next term and we will have some exciting news to share very soon.

“Meanwhile, our groundsman Julian is overseeing major pitch renovation work which starts [on Tuesday] when the Inscapes team and their equipment roll into Plainmoor, which will result in Torquay United proudly hosting one of the best playing surfaces in our league once again next season.

“We [have also] launched an online survey in order to give our wonderful supporters the chance to have their say on many aspects of TUFC’s future, and we’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to the 600 plus who have taken the time to share their thoughts with us so far.

“Over the course of the coming days and weeks, we are looking forward to sharing more news on not only our preparations for the forthcoming campaign – but also regarding what promises to be a bright new era for Torquay United FC.”
