Jennifer Saunders says appearing on US sitcom Roseanne as her Absolutely Fabulous character Eddy was "very bizarre".

Jennifer stopped by Graham Norton's BBC Radio 2 show yesterday to talk all about her role in Kathy Burke's Lady Windermere's Fan, but a question from a listener had her reminiscing on some of her past work.

With Roseanne set to return next month, Jennifer was asked whether she'd return to the series during its reboot, and while the comedian didn't quite answer that exact question, she did reflect on the whole cameo experience.

"We appeared in Roseanne as it was the Halloween episode, where they always go a bit off the tracks and we appeared as Eddy and Patsy," she explained.

"So we did a sort of Ab Fab meets Roseanne. It was a very weird experience."

The episode in question was season 9's 'Satan, Darling', which Jennifer also co-wrote, and saw Jennifer and Ab Fab co-star Joanna Lumley in character as Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone getting drunk with Roseanne in New York.

Roseanne Barr had previously bought the rights to Ab Fab, intending to make a US reboot of the show starring Carrie Fisher and Barbara Carrera, but Jennifer reflected that it never went anywhere.

"She did buy the rights to it for a bit, but it never got made," Jennifer added.

"She decided that she wanted Eddy and Patsy in the Roseanne Halloween episode. It was very bizarre. We were quite confused. But it was fun."

US sitcom Roseanne originally ran from 1988 to 1997, and last year it was confirmed the series would be returning for a rebooted series in 2018, with an air date set for March 27.

And while Jennifer may not have answered if she'd be returning to the series, a return to the show doesn't seem so wild when you consider that the new series will feature most of its original cast members, including Roseanne, John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (DJ), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and, of course, The Big Bang Theory's Jonny Galecki.

Graham Norton's Radio 2 show continues next Saturday (February 24) at 10am.
