Aberdeen in full bloom: Delight as city reaches finals of 2025 Britain in Bloom
Aberdeen has once again secured its place in the finals of the 2025 Britain in Bloom competition, aiming to add another prestigious award to the city’s long history of floral achievements.
Last year, the Granite City triumphed at the Beautiful Scotland Awards, winning the overall best in Scotland, earning the coveted Rosebowl for best in Scotland, along with the City Trophy, the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Award, the VisitScotland Award for Tourism, and a Gold Medal certificate.
In 2023, Aberdeen claimed gold in Britain in Bloom, continuing a tradition of excellence dating back decades.

Aberdeen has maintained an unbroken streak of recognition, earning a medal in either Britain in Bloom or Beautiful Scotland every year since 2008.
The city has been an award-winning participant in these competitions since 1964 and is celebrating 61 years of competing in both Britain in Bloom and Beautiful Scotland in 2025.
Councillor Neil MacGregor, Aberdeen City Council’s in Bloom Champion expressed his pride in the city’s latest achievement: "It truly is an accolade for the city to be in the finals of Britain in Bloom.
"This is thanks to the great work carried out by our enthusiastic gardeners and greenkeepers as well as the amazing community organisations, groups, and individuals who help to continue making Aberdeen’s green spaces beautiful along with support from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
"It is fantastic that we will be welcoming Britain in Bloom judges back into the city in the summer and we look forward to showing them around, including meeting many of the people involved in ensuring our green areas look great."
Britain in Bloom, organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), is the UK’s premier gardening competition for councils and community organisations. Regional champions, including winners from Beautiful Scotland, qualify for the national finals.
Aberdeen’s judging will focus on three key areas:
Horticulture - showcasing the city’s stunning parks and green spaces
Community Involvement - highlighting the effects of volunteers, local businesses, friends groups, and schools in maintaining Aberdeen’s natural beauty
Environmental Responsibility - demonstrating the city’s work on carbon reduction, climate initiatives and sustainable practices
The winners of the 2025 Britain in Bloom competition will be revealed at an awards event in the Autumn, where Aberdeen hope to claim yet another victory in its illustrious history of floral excellence.
