Aberdeen sports club unveils plans for huge transformation with three major extensions

Plans have been laid out for a huge transformation of a popular Aberdeen sports and country club.

Kippie Lodge in Milltimber has submitted plans to Aberdeen City Council for three major extensions, including one providing additional facilities to its sport centre, and a jacuzzi suite added to its swimming pool, as well as a replacement garden room.

A covered link extension to created a walkway between the main building and the tennis courts and padel tennis has also been proposed, in order to make the centre fully accessible for wheelchair users.

The gym extension plans include a new climbing wall passing through the two floors of the building as well as the first floor being sub-divided into smaller studios for Pilates and yoga. Meanwhile, the gym's roof will be extended to act as a canopy over the padel court.

Proposals would also see the existing garden room replaced with a multi-use function and activity room which opens to a paved terrace with facilities for BBQ and pizza baking.

A statement from Kippie reads: "The club offers its members gym and fitness class facilities, included in these activities are a full range of fitness and wellbeing classes – from yoga and Pilates to spin cycle classes. The club offers classes for all ages from yoga and gymnastics for toddlers to physio gym for seniors.

"The increased community focus on physical fitness and mental wellbeing result in these facilities reaching capacity. Our goal is to extend these facilities to benefit our existing members.

"We want to add a bigger gym and fitness class space at our existing Sports Complex, introduce additional sporting activities with the installation of a multi-use-games area, install a padel tennis court, link the tennis dome to the main building for better security and improve our general social function space at the lodge."
