Abortion-Rights Activists March in Warsaw as New Restrictions Take Effect

Protesters marched in Warsaw and elsewhere around Poland on January 27, as further restrictions on access to abortion came into effect.

The protests were organized by the All-Poland Women’s Strike activist group and took place in more than 40 cities and towns, local media said.

The law, banning abortion except in cases of rape or incest, or where the mother’s health is at risk, was passed in October, but implementation was delayed by protests.
