Houses and other structures were engulfed by flames on the evening of December 30 in Boulder County, Colorado, as destructive wildfires forced evacuations.
On Friday, officials said that the Marshall Fire, which heavily damaged areas in Superior and Louisville, destroyed at least 500 homes and possible as many as 1,000.
The Boulder Office of Emergency Management instructed residents not to return to evacuation zones a day after fires broke out.
