Channel 4's multi-cultural school drama Ackley Bridge really took its toll on Missy this week with the death of her nan and the heartbreaking ramifications.

Tonight's episode also saw Miss Carter (Jo Joyner) admitting she copped off with Mr Nawaz (Adil Ray), which did NOT go down well – obviously – and it looks like things are going to get even worse there next week.

Lila's sexuality was the school's biggest gossip and as a result, she was forced to come out in a classroom full of teenagers in the best way ever: "I'm gay, it's not a big deal, and it's none of your business" – which is just awesome.

Viewers thought it was a very important scene to show sexuality in schools – and also in young Muslim women:

People were emotional when it was discovered that Missy's nan had died from a heart attack:

Things got even more upsetting when her sister Hayley was taken away to live with a foster family in another town because she was under 16:

There was also the topic that a TEACHER was willing to lend Missy a grand – even before knowing it was for her nan's funeral:

Overall, many are enjoying the show and think it's covering some really tough and important topics that affect teenagers today:

Ackley Bridge airs on Channel 4.
