'Act now' red flood warning issued on Gloucestershire border
An urgent flood warning has been issued on the Gloucestershire border. The Environment Agency (EA) has urged residents to "act now" as flooding "is expected" at the Wye Estuary at Brockweir.
People in and around the eastern side of the River Wye have been urged to avoid contact with flood water. The EA said properties and roads in the village of Brockweir, in the Forest of Dean, may be hit by high tides.
The high tides are expected to hit this evening (Thursday, September 19) and tomorrow morning. The situation is being monitored by officials and residents should remain vigilant.

The warning comes as the Met Office has issued back-to-back weather warnings for thunderstorms this weekend. There could be disruptive thunderstorms across Gloucestershire tomorrow (Friday, September 20) and Saturday.
In its forecast for Gloucestershire, the Met Office says there could be thundershowers at 3pm on Friday and some heavy showers around 4pm on Saturday. Temperatures will remain above 20C on both days, continuing the warmer spell.
