Actress Nicole Reece said it will be an “emotional celebration” to join other breast cancer survivors to take part in a charity fashion show.

Ms Reece, 37, who has had roles in Holby City and EastEnders, was diagnosed with the disease at 27 — and underwent a mastectomy.

She said: “Having to deal with losing a part of what made me a woman and not feeling comfortable or sexy in my own body was tough.

“However, I tend to focus on the positives and successes I have experienced. I guess the most ironic thing is that my cancer in a peculiar way ended up healing my life and my spirit.”

She will join 30 other survivors at The Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show in association with Comfort on September 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel.

Ms Reece, pictured, added: “Since the beginning of my diagnosis Breast Cancer Care has supported me in a number of ways. They have held my hand on this journey and there are not enough words for me to express my appreciation.”

She said the show would be an “amazing and emotional celebration of how far I have come”. Claire Pulford, head of events at Breast Cancer Care, said: “Together with our sponsor Comfort, we’re helping people living with breast cancer feel positive and confident in their clothes again.”
