Some of Hollywood's top actresses are reportedly planning to wear all black to the upcoming Golden Globes to protest against harassment.

Since the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke a few months ago, there has been an earthquake effect in the movie industry and beyond, with many speaking out with allegations of sexual misconduct.

According to People, actresses such as Emma Stone and Meryl Streep are planning to wear all black at the January 7 ceremony as a statement.

There are also suggestions that the protest may continue throughout the awards season too.

This is not the only gesture that will be made during awards season in protest at the sexual harassment in Hollywood.

The SAG Awards is set to include an all-female line-up of presenters.

Weinstein is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including from stars such as Paz de la Huerta, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Rose McGowan, Cara Delevingne and Lupita Nyong'o.

The producer is also facing police investigations in the US and the the UK. He has denied committing any criminal offences.

Numerous other well-known people have faced allegations of sexual misconduct since the story broke back in October, in both the movie industry and beyond, sparking the #MeToo movement.

Last week, it was announced that a group of women and men that had brought awareness to sexual misconduct - dubbed 'The Silence Breakers' - had won Time Magazine's Person of the Year honour.

The 2018 Golden Globes will take place on January 7.
