Johannesburg – Miss SA 2017 runner-up Adè van Heerden is set to compete for the Miss World title against 123 other countries.
Adè will respresent South Africa at the pageant which will take place at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China on 18 November.
This year the contest introduces Head to Head Challenge events which take place between 21 October and 15 November at different locations visited by the contestants.
Twenty groups, six/seven ladies per group, will compete, with the winner for each group qualifying for the Miss World Top 40. The top 40 will be made up of the 20 Head to Head Challenge winners, five fast track event winners and 15 selected by the judges.
Many may be confused as to why Demi is not competeing in both pageants, but the answer is simple – the pageant dates overlap.
Therefore, Demi-Leigh is not able to compete in both, choosing instead to attend the Miss Universe pageant, while Adè was given the opportunity to represent the country at Miss World.
