A few late additions to the Christmas set-up in Birmingham city centre have extended the festivities even further beyond the German Market route. The Frankfurt Christmas Market is now in full swing after its grand opening on November 1.

As usual, Victoria Square and New Street have been packed with market-goers enjoying the traditional tipples and treats, but there are now even more reasons for visitors to venture past the wooden stalls.

After an adorable new reindeer trail was added to the city centre's Christmas offering last week, two giant new decorations have been installed right next to the German Market in Chamberlain Square.

The light-up bauble installations have been gifted by Paradise Birmingham, providing Brummies and visitors with the perfect photo opportunity against a striking backdrop of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the townhall.

Just around the corner, a new firepit has been set up next to the Big Wheel and Ice Skate Birmingham rink in Centenary Square, where people can toast marshmallows. It joins other food stalls, selling toasties and other snacks.

Meanwhile, the Christmas decorations have just gone up in Brindleyplace, where community markets will be held on December 4 and December 7, selling gifts, jewellery and food from local makers.

At the other end of New Street, the bull statue has been dressed up in festive attire to mark the opening of Sephora in the Bullring on Wednesday, November 13.

And the popular Après Ski Bar has also made a comeback for 2024, serving Christmassy drinks in cosy chalets and cable cars, plus a brand new churros stall. It's located on the balcony overlooking St Martin's Church.

Over in Pigeon Park, the annual Christmas in Cathedral Square market will open on Wednesday, November 13, offering a locally-sourced alternative to the German Market that runs until Sunday, December 22.
