Adelaide Zoo's Sumatran Tiger Passes Health Check

Adelaide Zoo’s Sumatran tiger was put under general anesthetic for a health check, footage released on December 1 shows.

A team carried out the health check at the facility’s Animal Health Centre, where Kembali had blood samples taken, X-rays and ultrasounds.

Dr David McLelland said the team usually inspect bigger animals like Kembali every three years, and that checking his reproductive health was also important in the “scope of the broader breeding population.”

McLelland said “everything looked good,” and the animal was treated to a tasty meat cake as he recovered from the procedure. Credit: Zoos South Australia via Storyful
