Adele Roberts has updated fans on her bowel cancer battle, saying she almost “lost the use my actual bottom” because her tumour was in a tricky place.

The Radio 1 DJ announced in October that she had been diagnosed with the illness and was having surgery to remove a tumour.

She has continued to keep her fans updated on social media and on Friday appeared on Good Morning Britain to share a health update.

Roberts, 42, said hearing she had cancer was “a shock” and that she still feels she has “not really taken it onboard”.

The star underwent surgery just weeks after her diagnosis.

She said: “And then I was able to get back into a good routine.

"Get back to Radio One and get on chemotherapy, and hopefully, I see the chemotherapy as my little snipers getting rid of anything that might be left... and hopefully by the middle of this year, I'll be back to normal and back to my old self.”

Discussing her prognosis, the radio star said: “So far I believe they've managed to remove all of the tumour, which is great news.

"It was in a really tricky place so I could have lost the use of my actual bottom.
