The 43-year-old was preparing to leave for fellow Radio 1 presenter Mills’ leaving bash when she suffered a stoma prolapse.
She took to her Instagram stories to update fans on the “scary” incident, which comes after her bowel cancer diagnosis in October 2021.
A stoma prolapse occurs when the stoma comes out too far above the level of the skin. It can sometimes be fixed by using a different kind of stoma bag, but more complex cases can require further surgery.
Roberts’ partner Kate Holderness, 37, helped the presenter fix the stoma, nicknamed Audrey, throughout the day.
In a video posted to Instagram, the presenter makes light of the incident, saying: “Another day another Audrey bit of mischief. My stoma’s prolapsed today.”
The DJ went on to use an umbrella to show how her stoma had changed in size while Holderness made her laugh from behind the camera.
She added: “I’ve got to go and have a shower now, get this elephant trunk out, put ice on it. That’s one thing that makes it go down, or apparently sprinkle it with sugar.”
The 43-year-old also has a stoma nurse available for contact in case of emergencies or needed assistance.
Holderness has also been on-hand to help her partner, later posting a picture of herself ready to cover Roberts’ stoma in sugar after reading online that it might help.
The actress captioned her post: “STOMA SUGAR. Just in case we can’t make your leaving party @realscottmills & @chrisstark.
“Current situation is trying to pop @adeleroberts’ small intestine back inside her body (her stoma has prolapsed & apparently sugar helps?!)…enjoying your show whilst we perform this backstreet operation #Loveyoubye.”
