Adele wants EastEnder Sid Owen to cater her wedding

Adele apparently earns an eye-popping £84,000 A DAY – so you think she’d stretch to a big name to cater her upcoming wedding to boyfriend Simon Konecki, wouldn’t you?

However, instead of roping in someone like Gordon Ramsay to cook for guests on her big day, the 28-year-old singer is apparently turning to ex-EastEnder Sid Owen to make sure her guests are well looked after.

Yep, Ricky Butcher. That’ll be jellied eels all round then, eh?

Luckily, it’s not quite as alarming as it first sounds. Since leaving the BBC soap, Sid has reinvented himself as something of a foodie. He’s even published a cookery book called Life on a Plate, and impressed viewers earlier this year when he appeared on Celebrity Masterchef.

“It will be a very small affair,” explained an insider. “Only a few of their very closest friends will be there, but Sid will definitely be involved and they’ve talked to him about food.

“They haven’t got fancy tastes. They could have almost any of the world’s best chefs but it’s just not who they are. Having one of their closest friends help out instead would mean a lot more to them.”

44-year-old Sid is good pals with the couple, and has worked as a patron for Simon’s water aid charity, Drop 4 Drop.

Luckily, he’s got a bit of restaurant experience, too. He opened a successful eatery in the south of France after quitting Albert Square, although he later jacked it in as he was unable to commit full time.

Still, if Adele’s culinary tastes are anything to go by, at least it sounds like the pressure’s off and Sid can always just reach for a tin opener if he’s struggling for inspiration.

The Hello singer once joked that her favourite meal is scrambled eggs, and she’s a dab hand at cooking spaghetti hoops on toast.
