Adele's family had no idea that the star had secretly married

It turns out we weren’t the only ones left in the dark about Adele’s secret marriage to long-term partner Simon Konecki, with her family reportedly “shocked” by the news that she had tied the knot.

The singer seemingly confirmed that she was a married woman at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, with Konecki also being spotted wearing a gold band on his wedding finger at last week’s BRIT Awards.

It is thought that the couple tied the knot during a low-key Los Angeles ceremony over Christmas, and Adele’s loved ones are understandably upset that they weren’t invited to the do.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source shared: “Adele and Simon have a big family but some of those closest to them weren’t aware of any impending wedding and were shocked to hear one might have gone ahead.

“They feel disappointed if it’s true. They understand they’re a private couple but are surprised to see them potentially cut out their loved ones.”

The insider went on to claim that some relatives hope that there will be some kind of celebration in the UK over the summer.

Towards the end of last year it was reported that Adele and Simon planned to marry during the Christmas holidays so that Simon’s nine-year-old daughter from a previous relationship could attend.
