Adorable Baby Koala 'Angel' Enjoys a Scratch at Adelaide Sanctuary, Australia

Koala joey ‘Angel’ was filmed relaxing at the Southern Koala Rescue centre in Adelaide, South Australia, on January 5.

In footage shared to Facebook on January 9, Angel can be seen languishing in the plush folds of a big blanket, enjoying a head scratch and a shake.

“Little itty bitty Angel is the future of our koalas. Coming in weighing 380 g, she is now over 700 g and a big bundle of attitude,” the sanctuary said in the post.

Billions of animals died in Australia’s 2019-2020 bushfire crisis, according to estimates made by scientists and university professors.

“We are inundated with koalas in care at the moment. The bushfire crisis has meant there is an urgent need for us to bring forward our long term plan of creating a Koala Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Centre to accommodate volunteers from all over the country and the world. " the sanctuary said in the post, adding a link to a fundraising page for the initiative.
