Adorable moment adopted dog cuddles up to new owner to show how much he loves her

This is the loving moment that an adopted dog cuddled up to his new owner having finally found happiness after a rough start in life.

Four-year-old pit bull Russ has his paws draped over Kayla Floon while she works on her laptop on the sofa.

The dog’s face is a picture of contentment, a stark contrast to his previous life as a stray living on the streets of Philadelphia.

Kayla, 20, who works as a volunteer dog walker at the ACCT Philly animal shelter, told The Dodo: “He came in as a stray, and he was really beat up.

“He was missing fur on his tail and ears. He was also terribly skinny. They told me he was about 40 pounds when he came into the shelter.”

Russ would often sit quietly on his own but Kayla was instantly smitten with him and after bonding on a walk, she decided to adopt him.

The dog’s incredible bond with his new owner was captured by one of Kayla’s housemates, who snapped the photo of the pair cuddling up on the sofa.

Kayla revealed: “One night I’m sitting there on the chair, doing my homework, and he’s trying to find ways to cuddle with me.

“There was a whole other sofa open, and we had his bed on the floor, but he didn’t want to lie anywhere else.

“So he ends up positioning himself, and I look down, and I think, “Oh my gosh, look at him.’”

She added: “He’s probably one of the most grateful dogs I’ve ever seen.”
