'Line of Duty' star Adrian Dunbar to guest host 'Have I Got News For You'

Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar will guest present an upcoming episode of Have I Got News For You.

The Superintendent Ted Hastings actor is set to be joined by comedian Katherine Ryan and The Sunday Times's Political Editor Tim Shipman who will act as the show's two panellists alongside team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.

It will be the Northern Irish star's first appearance on the news quiz.

The episode is slated to air Friday 16 April at 9pm on BBC One.

Line of Duty returned for its long-anticipated sixth season earlier this month, with the premiere earning the crime drama its highest ratings ever.

The BBC said it averaged 9.6 million viewers, a peak of 9.8 million and a 44.4% share, making it the biggest overnight rating for an episode.

It was revealed earlier this week that the series premiere has become the most-watched episode of drama since 2018.

Consolidated figures from audience research organisation Barb showed a total of 13.1 million viewers watched the programme.

It was the most watched episode of drama since September 2018 when the finale of Bodyguard, which was also created by Jed Mercurio, drew in an audience of 14.3 million.

Dunbar resumed his role as the Superintendent for the sixth series alongside Vicky McClure as DI Kate Fleming and Martin Compston, who plays DS Steve Arnott.

This season's special guest star is Kelly Macdonald as Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, a senior investigating officer.
